Customizing the tonality of your text

Updated yesterday

In FlowShare, the Language tab within your settings allows you to control how AI-generated smart texts and translations are phrased. By default, FlowShare uses a professional, formal tone. However, depending on your company culture or the target audience for your guides, you may prefer a more informal style.

How to Change the Tone

To switch the tonality from formal to informal:

  1. Open Settings (the gear icon) in the lower-left corner of the FlowShare app.

  2. Navigate to the Language tab.

  3. Locate the text label Text tonality

  4. Check the radio button to enable informal phrasing.

What Changes?

Once this setting is active, it affects the automatically generated step descriptions and titles. When using the AutoTranslate add-on (powered by DeepL), the translation will prioritize informal grammar and vocabulary.

Language-Specific Impact

This setting is only useful for languages that distinguish between formal and informal tone. When enabled, the AI automatically adjusts the grammar and tone:

  • German: Switches from the polite "Sie" to the casual "Du."

  • French: Transitions from the formal "Vous" to the familiar "Tu."

  • Spanish: Replaces the respectful "Usted" with the friendly "Tú."

For languages like English, where there is no grammatical "formal" pronoun, the setting will not have much difference.
